Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy for Children, Adults, and Families in California
Helping neurodivergent individuals, overwhelmed adults, and parents better understand behavior, emotional regulation, sleep, stress, and everyday patterns so life feels more manageable, connected, and sustainable.
I help neurodivergent children, teens, adults, and families better understand the patterns behind stress, emotional overwhelm, behavior, sleep, and follow-through. Together, we build practical and compassionate tools that support regulation, flexibility, communication, and meaningful change in everyday life, not just in theory.

My Approach to Therapy
I approach therapy through a blend of behavior science, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), emotional regulation work, nervous system support, and practical behavior strategies that can actually be used in real life.
A lot of the people I work with are deeply thoughtful and capable. They've read the books, listened to the podcasts, tried the routines, and still find themselves overwhelmed, reactive, exhausted, disconnected, or frustrated that things aren't “clicking.” I understand how defeating that can feel, especially when it seems like everyone else can handle things more easily.
I also know how emotional and overwhelming it can feel as a parent when your child is struggling and nothing seems to fully help. Many of the families I work with come in feeling exhausted, stuck, unsure how to respond during difficult moments, or worried they are “doing it wrong.” My goal is never to judge families or force children into compliance. It's to help make sense of behavior with compassion, curiosity, and practical support.
Together, we look at how stress, sleep, environments, nervous system overload, expectations, emotions, and behavior all interact, then build supports that feel realistic, individualized, and sustainable.
Because meaningful change rarely comes from shame or forcing yourself harder. It comes from understanding yourself, or your child, differently.
What It's Like to Work Together
My style is warm, collaborative, honest, and grounded. Sessions are conversational while still offering structure, reflection, and practical tools that clients can apply outside of therapy.
One of my greatest strengths is building genuine connection with children and teens in a way that feels natural, playful, and safe while still helping them grow. I believe kids do best when they feel understood, respected, and emotionally supported, not constantly corrected or pressured. I often incorporate humor, creativity, movement, interests, and relationship-building into my work because connection is often what opens the door for meaningful progress.
I value helping people feel safe enough to be human while also helping them move forward. That means balancing emotional support with actionable strategies, insight with follow-through, and science with humanity.
Many clients and parents tell me they finally feel understood in a way they haven't before, not judged, not pathologized, and not treated like a checklist to fix.
About Me
Denise Vo is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, ACT-informed therapist, and behavior-based health coach with over a decade of experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, children, families, and adults. She earned her Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Arizona State University and has additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, nutrition coaching, stress management, sleep support, and behavior change.
Throughout her career, Denise has worked closely with children and families across home, school, clinic, community, and virtual settings. She is especially skilled in helping children build emotional regulation, communication, flexibility, confidence, and independence while simultaneously supporting parents in understanding the deeper patterns behind behavior.
Her work is rooted in the belief that behavior always makes sense in context, and that people deserve support that honors both the science of behavior and the humanity behind it. Denise is passionate about helping clients feel more connected to themselves, more emotionally aware, and more capable of navigating life with flexibility instead of constant pressure or self-criticism.
Outside of her clinical work, Denise enjoys movement, cooking, sports, music, animals, and genuine connection, the kind that helps people feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work with autistic and ADHD clients?
Yes. I support neurodivergent children, teens, and adults, including individuals with autism and ADHD. I also work closely with parents who want support understanding emotional regulation, behavior, communication, sensory needs, and everyday functioning.
Do you help with meltdowns and emotional regulation?
Yes. I help clients and families better understand what may be contributing to emotional overwhelm, meltdowns, shutdowns, reactivity, or dysregulation. Together, we build tools and supports that reduce escalation while increasing flexibility, communication, and self-awareness over time.
Do you help with stress and sleep issues?
Yes. Sleep, stress, emotional regulation, and behavior are deeply connected. Many clients I work with struggle with nervous system overload, burnout, inconsistent routines, difficulty winding down, or chronic exhaustion. We focus on practical strategies that support regulation and recovery in realistic ways.
What is ACT-informed therapy?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps people build psychological flexibility, meaning the ability to respond to difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences with greater awareness and intention instead of feeling completely controlled by them.
Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?
No. Many clients come in feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, reactive, stuck, disconnected from themselves, or unsure why certain patterns keep repeating. A formal diagnosis is not required.
